SCOFFIN
Miles Coffin
I've been hunting some public land now for the last 3 years and have a pretty good idea where the deer are bedding and where they are feeding. So, this year I went to put a stand in a tree next to the main trail leading out of the bedding area that runs between to ridges. Shots to either side are not going to be more than 15 yards. This trail is currently surrounded in all directions by grass/weeds about 3-4 feet tall. Problem is, early on this season when I went to hang this stand, I spooked up a nice 10. I hung it anyway, and hunted a different stand on the ridge top for the next couple weeks to see what this deer is doing. Everytime up there, That 10 is bedded in the grass within about 50 yards of that stand and doesn't get up to move until 30-40 minutes before sundown. I did go out and hunt the ridge stand for an all day hunt and didn't see that deer come in or go out all day, so I figured this was just a fluke. I was wanting to know what was the best time to sneak into that stand location. Since I didn't learn anything on my all day hunt, I was hoping you folks might be able to help me out with a good time to get in there. It's tough navigating in the dark, but could be done if needed. Since I'm farily new to Bow hunting, I thought I'd pose this question to the experts on this site.
