Shot a new Hoyt

My friend showed me hiw new hoyt bow. I shot it once, i like the feel and the design of it. Since I think I might get one, but i dont know what model to get. Right now i have a PSE and a fred bear, I have only been bow hunting for 3 years now, but am looking to sell the PSE. I am debating on whether to get a new PSE or a hoyt. What do you guys/girls think of the hoyt bows and any other bows. I am willing to pay to about 400 but REALLY don't want to spend anymore than that. But if its a really outstanding bow I might give it a try. But just wanted to see what you all thought.

I used to hunt with a PSE bow and after one season I sold the PSE and have shot HOYT bows ever since. They are great bows and are made in the USA which is a big plus. I am pretty sure that the new line of HOYT bows will be out in late October, so I would wait to buy one until then. I have shot the Magnatec and currently the X-Tec and love them both. I test shot a variety of new bows last spring including a Mathews and Bowtech and HOYT is the best over all bow, barnone.

I bought a Hoyt Ultra Sport last year and absolutely love it. Killed my first buck and bow deer with it last year as well. Just as fast as my buddy's Matthew's (which he bought last year and didn't shoot any deer with :-)). It's also very quiet.

It is also in the same price range as you are looking at. I'm sold on Hoyt and doubt I'll ever shoot anything else.

Good Luck..

I got my first hoyt last year when I switched from a recurve to compound for hunting. My first was a Hoyt UltraSport which was a great shooting/quiet bow. I just traded that in for a Hoyt Trykon XL a couple months ago and like it so far. I got my UltraSport which was an 05 model just after the 06's came out so I was able to get it on sale. If you wait until the 07's come out you may be able to find a deal on an 06.

I'd say you may want to shoot a Mathews and a Bow-Tech. I shoot a Mathews but i really like how the Bow-Tech's shoot also. but yeah i can see the money limitation thing. either way it doesn't matter that much which bow you get anymore these days cuz they are all good...it mainly depends on the guy on the other end of the bow! practice practice practice

Yeah go try the Bowtechs out before you buy. I too tried the Hoyts the other day, then shot the BT Tribute! All I could say was WOW! I pick my new bow up tomorrow afternoon!! Tribute in Max 4 camo! Just in time for the opener.

As was mentioned above, with the 2007 models coming out soon, if you can wait until January or so, there will be a lot of 2006 and 2005 bows being offered for sale by those people who just have to own the latest and greatest. If you aren't one of those kind of people, then it will be your lucky day. Let them take the depreciation on that 2006 bow while you buy it from them for about 60% of the price they paid. Check out the classfied ads at ArcheryTalk.com after the first of the year and you'll be amazed by what's available. I'm offering this advice because that's exactly what I did this past January when I bought a 2004 Hoyt Ultratec and a 2005 Hoyt Vtec. Both had been lightly used and were bargains. The Vtec had only been shot a couple of times!

Gotta love the Max 4. Wish I weren't a poor college kid and I too could have one of these beauties....

I love my new Trykon. By far the best bow I've ever shot and I've shot most of them. I love the shorter ATA for tree stand hunting, plus it faster than the Mathew's Slowback!

If you're interested in a Hoyt and somewhat limited $$-wise, check out the Reflex line, basically the same bow w/o the bells and whistles. Dealer back here sold both and he ended up phasing out the Hoyts and just buying and selling the Reflex bows.

I lost my Hoyt Protec last year during season. I set up my old Hoyt superstar fast flight to continue hunting and wondered why I ever bought a new one. Best shooting bow I have ever owned. Wont go wrong with a Hoyt, but I would also agree that some other manufacturers are now making bows almost as good.

relfex-hoyt, diamond-bowtech. both are a cost alternative, basically a new package, for tecnology that is a few years old. good deals for the money. i would hit all the shops, bows are being traded in right now, and the '07's are just around the corner. i would try to shoot everything i could, find a couple that i like, and watch the shops and ebay. your $400 cap will keep you out of many of the top models. get something you can use for a year or so, and add the accessories that you will want on your next one (if that is possible, as much new crap that comes out every year). that will help cut down the cost of a new bow, if your sights, rest, etc., will transfer. with a new bow around $700, it doesn't take long to get in over a grand if you need new sight, rest, quiver, arrows, release

damn......i'm starting to spend next years income tax check already

here is the best advise i can give

DON'T GO SHOOTING NEW BOWS, UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO BUY A NEW ONE, BECAUSE YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH ONE, AND START TO HATE YOUR OLD ONE
