Shotgun buck

Sweet buck! My uncle hunts public land and goes farther than anyone else to avoid the crowds. He keeps a wheelbarrow in his truck and I have seen him wheel deer for miles in that old thing! :D

Congrats & well done. How was that all day sit for ya? I did it one time this year and was sore the next day because of it. Great buck.

Thanks Guys. The sit wasn't all that bad. I got to the spot two hours early because I wanted to be the first one down there and I wasn't sure exactly what tree I was going to be in. I knew the general area and knew I wanted to sit on a big creek bank overlooking where they cross. I actually picked out the tree to sit on google earth. I plugged the coordinates into my GPS and got right to it.

The problem was it was a triple trunked black locust with thousands and thousands of needles. I knew it was where I wanted to be so I went to work shaving off the needles. I ended up poking my hand in several places. By the end of the sit I honestly didn't even know if I could pull my hammer back on the gun it hurt so bad. I couldn't even close my fist or do anything with my hand. It was completely numb and sore from the poison those needles have in them.

The gun was a CVA Accura V2. I only had one moment that I was a little scared. A guy walked in and sat on the bluff above me. I couldn't see him but knew that he could see my head lamp when he was walking in the morning. I had a group of does come between me and him and i was scared to death he was going to start shooting. I sucked in my gut and hid behind one of the trunks on the tree until they passed.

Other than that it wasn't bad at all. I was only two sticks high and had amazing cover. I could lean against any of the 3 trunks so life was good. I think the funnest part was watching two minks play and swim on the ice for an hour.

The drag was the worst part. It was 0.90 miles back and 0.57 miles of it was uphill. Luckfully my good buddy Muzzhunter and brother inlaw and other buddy Scott where there to help haul him out otherwise I would still be out there dragging him out. A good deer cart is worth its weight in gold.

My brother inlaw had even a worse drag. He shot his first gun deer ever which was a big doe and she was right at 1.5 miles from the truck. I thought for sure we were all going to die out there last night. Took us an hour and a half to get her out. Sure was tough.

Great Buck Mike, continuing to have a heck of a season chasing the whitetails.

Congrats
Kratz
