Not sure where this goes so move it if need be....

My longtime buddy has finally stated getting more into the outdoors and shooting sports. So for his birthday I would like to buy him a shotgun. Is it just the same process as if I was buying for myself?. Thanks for any input.....I also want the same shotgun, can I just buy 2 and gift him one....?

Technically you are not supposed to purchase a firearm for another person. In the form you fill out it ask if you are purchasing a firearm for someone else. Basically you are saying if you give the firearm to somebody that if anything ever happened the gun would be traced back to you. Not illegal to buy two of the same guns. So go in fill out the paperwork and walk out with both of "YOUR" guns. Then give it to your friend. Shouldn't be a problem. That's a heck of a gift! You need anymore friends? :)
