Shotgun hunters have any of you used....

My dad use to use on with his reminton 12 gague. That 2 two inches of twist didn't change the accuracy of the gun. And if you were to use a rifled choke, sabot slugs would probably be the best. But I don't see whats the point in useing exspensive shells when shot gun in iowa seems to be about running and gunning deer.

Well Jason I do not know where you hunt but I or no one in our shotgun group have ever run or gunned a deer. What do you mean by running and gunning?? I would like you to come up and shoot at a running deer with a shotgun slug and tell me accuracy doesn't matter I take that as an insult against me and other shotgunners who take shotgun hunting seriously. I think shotgun hunters do a lot more for this sport than they get credit for. I and everyone I hunt with pride themselves on being accurate with their shotguns and making clean humane kills on all deer we shoot and some are does and some are booners but both are shot at with the same degree of accuracy and yes even does are trailed to the end if wounded. So I don't know who you are "running and gunning" with but point your comments towards them and not me or the other shotgun hunters on this site!!!!
Yes I'm a bowhunter through and through but I will not run down another hunter if they decide to hunt ethically with a shotgun and I don't think you should either.

YoungBuck, my cousin has one on his gun "a mossburg I think" and he says it really helps. I've see his 75 yard groups and they are good, but I do not know what they were like before the choke. (last I knew he was shooting traditional 1 OZ slugs). Jason says his dad had no improvement, which I guess is better than a decrease. Personally I'd bet it depends upon the gun. I've had some high powers that shot great groups straight out of the box and others that even with custom work & hand loads didn't group with a darn. I expect slug guns to vary as well. a hunting buddy of mine had 1 slug barrel for his 870 that was marginal so he traded it for a new barrel which shot great. (same exact barrel style)

Rattle them in, you got a little over rattled didn't you? At least Jason answered the choke question, before ending with a generalized opinion, which I did not interpret as a jab at the ethics of shot gunners.

We all know that it is not the hardware that makes a person ethical or not ethical, it is the person themselves. And yes, I also believe that guns don't kill, people do.
