Shotgun Season ?

I am not a big fan of shotgun season, but do to work load later this year I will be gunning.

Is it legal to have 2 firearms in the stand or on stalk?

I have the shotgun for close-up fast action and the muzzleloader to reach out.

You guys are good to go. Shotgun and M/L are both legal during shotgun season. Heck take 3 if you want and add a handgun.

It is true that all of those weapons are legal to use. However, I thought it was illegal to carry a sidearm of any kind while hunting the shotgun seasons. Am I wrong?

it's legal, a couple of guys in my group carry them. We've been stoped before and all they had to do was show their permits and they were fine.

HCH is right you can carry a hand gun during shotgun season and not have a permit to carry. I carry one every year and never have a problem.

357 or larger I beleive. Don't keep it under your coat with out a concealed weapons permit.

.357 or larger, straight walled cartridges. There is a specific list at: Handguns start on Page 27.

If one is on their own property, never leaving it (on a roadway, etc.), does the concealed carry law still apply? It seems to me a person should be able to carry a concealed weapon on their own property. Then again, any law enforcement officer would want to be able to readily verify (pistol exposed) whether you were armed or not.

This is OK while hunting but it needs to follow the rules when you are out of the field, traveling home or between hunting spots.
With the rise of violence and trespassing, I'm going to be pretty careful about confrontations but I pretty much always have a gun in my pocket. Just what things are coming to and it isn't good.

Let me add, not trying to be a smart ass, simply asking about how far you would push a dead-beat?

You got to be careful how each officer interprets the law. Several years ago we had a situation with trespassers and I mentioned to the deputy that I always have my "licensed" handgun with me. He then informed me that it was not a good idea to take the weapon with me to confront the trespassers.

His reasoning was that if something happened and there was a shooting or fight, he would charge me, the legal landowner, with "going armed with intent". He stated that the "trespasser" was hunting, but I went looking for a fight when I took my gun with me.

He said to first call the law, then tell the "trespasser" to leave, if they have not left in a "timely" manner then he would step in.

Food for thought.

Maybe try reading the game rules, if you can post the question on this forum, you have the access and the ability to look the information up for yourself, and then you will not have to rely on others opinions or their take on the subject.

I should have worded it better I guess. They carry their handguns with them everywhere, we weren't hunting, we were gettin some lunch at the gas station in between hunts.
