This was another not so good year for me. I had a LO anterless tag and a regular 2nd season state wide tag. I hunted Saturday evening and Sunday morning and evening of the 1st season and saw 2 very young small does together on Saturday evening, and that was all. Then my son and I hunted the first weekend of the 2nd season. He saw 1 buck and missed a shot, and I saw a very big doe and shot her with the MZ on Saturday evening, to fill the LO tag. Then we hunted Sunday morning and evening with out seeing any deer at all. Last chance was the last Sunday of the season, morning and evening. Neither of us saw a thing in the morning and we both took shots at different does in the last 20 minutes of light and both missed. I still a couple of tags for late ML and the January season, but don't have really high hopes. As of right now the tally is 1 doe out of 4 licensed for the shotgun season, not good! We were both in stands and blinds in areas that have produced many deer in the past years, so just not many deer to be seen this year or the last couple of years. I just checked the harvest report and it shows a current harvest of only 95260 deer for all seasons completed. Last year there were only about 11,000 deer reported for the remaining seasons and if that is true for this year that will give us a total harvest well under 120,000 deer or almost half of what it was in 2005 and 2006.
