my first pin on my bow is 20 yds and its to high for ten yds.so what should i put my first pin at? what do u guys have your first pin set at?
 
My pins are 20, 30, 40 & have yet to set my 4th pin.

You might want to try setting your 1st pin at 15yds. Then see where you are w/ that pin when you shoot 10 & 20 yds. You might need to set them at 15, 25, 35???
 
How many pins do you have at your disposal? If you have 4 pins, how about 10, 20, 30, 40? My bow shoots pretty much the same from 10-20 so I just have a 20, 30, 40. I removed the 4th pin to avoid confusion plus I don't shoot 3D so there's no need for a longer distance pin in my case since I won't shoot at an animal past 40 yds.
 
I have a 4 pin site and a farely flatshooting fast bow. 15, 30, 42ish and my 4th is somewhere around 55. I just put equal spacing between them after I set my 1st pin, then my last pin I dropped 3/4 down just move it outta the way. I do shoot 3-D but do it more for practice than for sport. I'm getting some new arrows for this hunting season that are going to be a little different than normal. GOing to throw some lum-nocks and an 1in longer so I will need to resight my bow in. Hopefully then I can go 15, 30, 40, and I can remove my 4th pin.

Their is another brand of lit nocks that come with weighted practice nocks. They are definately heavier that a plane nock.

Diddo.. Probably will never shoot at a deer with my 60.. but when I practice with it, it sure makes everything else a chip-shot.
 
25,35,45,55 here.

If it's a newer bow it should be able to shoot 0-25yards almost +/-1" dead on. So I start at 25 yards and go out from there.

I don't see any reason for a ten yard pin unless you're shooting a REALLY slow bow. Set your first pin at 20 and then hold an inch low for any shot under ten yards......unless you're turkey hunting it probably won't make a difference anyway. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Same here...I agree...I have the sight case where my 3rd access meets the case at 92...I just do that for fun to see how tight I can get the groups, but it sure does make 15 yards a lot easier...

I don't know how far out I'll shoot, but I know when that deer is out there at 45 yards, it definitely looks a lot smaller!

I try to get my stands within 30-35 at the max...
