I went out today and girdled numerous silver maple trees. These were large, a few of them were ginormous. My question is if girdling them will be enough to kill them off?
You spray em with tordon?
When the market comes back, you may kick your self- those are valuable trees. You'd be far better off harvesting them if you can and if there's enough of them. If you haven't sprayed with tordon, you might wanna look at selling them before you kill em. Need tordon to kill em though.
All the inner wood on a tree does is give it support. All the nutrients move up & down the tree right under the bark. As long as you go in past that you will kill it, even tho I dont recommend that.
