Simmons Buck?

Very well said Bruce. I have not seen the deer but my advice to the hunter is to ride this thing for all it's worth because there more then likely will not be a next time.

Geez, what happened to the day when a guy could kill a B&C buck and then go to the local bar all day/all night, the whole time leaving the deer unattended in the back of a pickup, just to wake up the next morning and seeing the deer still in its original place in the pickup?

Man have times changed..., and certainly not for the better either.

Well said Bruce and DC.

Horn Porn has really gotten out of hand.
I truly feel sad for those that shoot a great deer and are unable to share the joy with everyone.

This was not from a fenced area. Free range buck.

My opinion, share the deer. If it's already on e-mails then it's out whether he likes it or not. He shouldn't have let the first pic been taken. Congrats to him, But share the deer.

I would love to see this deer. I know the area it came from I am very happy for the hunter.

Congrats on the kill of a lifetime.

If someone has the pics and is willing to email them I will certainly keep it to myself.

deerhunt6@hotmail.com

Congrats again to Mr. Simmons!

Another example of how gay the internet is!! If he wants it public than he can put it out there, you know, by posting, or EMAILING OUT PICS.. if not, why send out a picture???????

This is a classic example of why I just shoot little deer! To much hype for me! I am with Nanny. It's a deer! Congrats to him on what must be something impressive!! I mean, gosh, no pictures and 5 pages of wasted time reading???? Gotta be something special!!

Again congrats to the hunter, but if he doesn't want it public, then why the hell does Iowawhitetail have 5 pages of high school drama about the deer..........................

P.S. if anyone can email me a pic............... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif LOL

Reading this thread makes me wonder if this passion that we all share, the dream of shooting a world class animal, is really worth it.

Congrats to the lucky hunter. My guess is that the next year or two will be a roller coaster full of ups and downs, rumors and accusations will make sure of that. Eventually though, if all is legal and legit, the hunter should be able to enjoy having a world class deer with his name assigned to it. Someday he will likely have a replica of the antlers mounted in his home after selling the rack to a big sporting goods store. The rumors will be that he made millions on the sale of the antlers when in reality it was for amount that was just enough to make it worth while....not enough to retire on. I may stop hunting and focus on winning the lottery, far less rumors and the payout is much bigger!

to let everyone no this deer was taking legally i know the kid personaly and i know where it was shot at. and it wasnt in a high fenced area if thats what people think. also what are peoples thoughts on what this deer will score

Seriously? You know him? You know he doesn't want it seen, yet you probe for a score?

hmmmmmmmmm............... Okay, I'm done now, back to "the suspense"

I have heard from a good source that a game warden went out and checked the kill site as well. This buck is as legit as they come.

Didn't know about this site until I read about this buck on Iowa Outdoors. I got tired of the bickering over there and thought I'd see how this place checks out.

Anxious to see legit pics of the deer. Great job to the hunter who arrowed the beast!

Hide a tiny locating chip in it, shouldn't be hard it has 260"+ of antler. Then make a couple replicas of it. Show off the original. If some piece of sh&@ steals it, turn on the locater and you might find the Andrews buck as well.

They can RFID your pets, why not implant a RFID chip in your prized-mount?

I'd take it to the local ARL and see what they could do for you.

If I ever kill a buck of that caliber, the pics are going to get taken from MY camera, and then downloaded onto MY personal laptop, and put in a folder that is password protected. I will then take the SD card from the camera and put it in the money safe.

Mounting it? I wouldn't trust the taxidermist to keep his or her mouth shut, so I'd just cut the rack off and keep it in my basement.

That's unfortunate deerslayer. A deal can be reached where you can go to a reputable taxidermist, probably have the mount done for free because the word of mouth advertising will be worth more than any kind of money you could have paid the guy. Then you take pictures with all the fancy magazines who pay you and the taxidermist, and they either get the original mount and provide you with a nice replica, or you get the orginal and they get the replica, and you walk away with a pretty sizeable check.

Not a bad deal in my book...but you can stick your rack in the basement if you want.

Morpho, just to be clear, magazines generally do not pay you because they run a story about your deer. The story about this buck has already been assigned to a writer for North American Whitetail, and the writer will recieve payment for doing the story (probably around $500), but the guy who shot the buck will have to make his money some other way.

Man I wasted my time reading this whole thread even though I saw the pics yesterday, what was I thinking? I guess I like to see what some people can dream up. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Like was said it's just a damn deer, would I like to shoot it, sure I would, but I wouldn't have given out the pics to start except to my brothers and that's it. BTW nice thread Scout. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif Oh and T you're slacking. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
