Here is another tree stand question. Do you guys sit or stand while aboard a tree stand. Standing seems to accommodate the best shooting position however; it does get a little uncomfortable.
I like to stand 95% of the time I'm in the tree. I only sit down to give my legs a rest when I'm in for the long haul. Things can happen fast and your season may come down to a few seconds, especially during the rut. I think standing allows for more versitile shooting angles and allows you to be quicker in adjusting for the shot.
I too like to stand and only sit for short breaks on the legs. I like to lean into my safety strap. It seems more comfortable than leaning back into the tree and it is easier to look in all directions. Definitely easier to get into position when one gets in close on you.
That's weird everyone seems to stand. I sit 95% of the time, and it would probably be safe to say I shoot sitting 80% of the time. I never get caught moving around this way. And just the opposite of everyone, I stand when I get uncomfortable and need to stretch out.
I sit until I need to stretch or until I see deer. Then I stand. Always stand when I see deer and grab the bow and get ready. I like the portable stands because going from sitting to standing doesn't take much as I am nice and short. Seems to me that in the climber it requires more movement. For this reason I usually put as much distance between the two parts will allow while being able to stand up and shoot at any angle without hitting my bow on the climber. Depends on the day how much I actually sit or stand.
Sit most of the time and stand occasionally. I'd prefer to stand and shoot, but if one gets in on me before I get a chance I don't hesitate to shoot sitting.
Actually, this summer I did a little testing from a stand I hung in the back yard and found that my 25+ yard groups were a little better when sitting as opposed to standing. Closer than 25 yards didn't seem to make much difference.
Sit 80%. Would stand more because it is easier to manuever but I fidgit more while standing. I always set up stands so most likely spot to shoot is to my left and out front for a sitting shot. I can shoot either but prefer sitting. Last 4 P&Ys, 2 sitting and 2 standing.
I always stood until I got my new SS Lounger this year, and that is hard not to sit in as comfortable as it is.But I will try to stand to get the shot...
I have always liked to stand. When standing you can shoot 360 degrees around the tree When sitting you are limited. But, the more I learn about these darn animals, the more I wonder how many times I might have screwed up and been busted without knowing it by moving around too much. I find it harder to stay still while standing so I am really trying to sit more and stand less but hopefully be able to stand when I see the shooter coming in.
