Well, Scott and I are looking for people with tags left... :D

Started out with the choice of places to go with Scott and Dad tagged out. We knew there were still a lot of birds left and kind of forgot about a place that rarely lets us down. We either pull a bird out of there or get a shot. Dad decided he hadn't had enough so he decided to join us as well. So we got the double wide set up and put the decoys on the porch... :D Seriously the decoys were too close! I always had that problem when I waterfowled out of a boat a lot. Spread looked good but when the sun came up they were 10 yards away... :D Anyway gobbling started and we didn't have anything real close but still felt good. Had two hens pop out right away and head for an ag field behind us. Just waiting for big boy now. Well, he decided to pitch out into the field with 8 other hens and strut the morning away. Finally they made their way back to where they were about 70 yards away and a couple of hens got really upset with our hens and the strutting, wing floggin and general whoopin began. Not long after that started Scott pointed back to where the big daddy was struttin for the chicks. Here he comes. I can't see him but Scott pointed the camera towards the corner of the blind and I heard wings dragging and drumming. He was close. So close in fact that all I could see was the top of his fan! Soon he came into view and proceeded to chest bump Kip then flog him before he got throat punched.

Well you know how I said the decoys were too close They were so close I hit this bird with a bullhead about six inches low. He staggered turned towards the blind turned back and proceeded to STRUT back towards Kip. Blood was gushing out of him and he still wanted a piece of Kip! I grabbed another arrow even though he was about do end up face down and finished him off. 8:30 GAME OVER! :way:

Scott had some other commitments to take care of so we decided to take pictures, watch the video and decide where Dad and I were going next. We decided to go to the "Magic Spot". I am telling you this spot is money most of the time but you have to get into it within a certain time window. We were going to be able to make that time window pretty comfortably so we headed that way. Really not expecting much and still stoked about the morning I got things set up and my rule is wait an hour to start calling in a new spot or respond to a gobble which ever comes first. Well a half an hour into the sit a gobble rang out about 100 yards away! I clucked, he gobbled back, I yelped scratched the leaves and set the call down. Threw a mouth call in just incase and checked to see if I could see him as he was behind the blind on a logging road. Sure enough 70 yards away with neck up in the air there he stood. I clucked again with my mouth call looked again and he was 25 yards and spotted the decoys and b-lined for them. I placed them a little further (10 Yards) this time. Set the pin on his throat and longbeard #2 was down like a bag of hammers. Dad and I looked at each other and started to laugh in amazement. Took a total of 35 minutes. :way: Dad did a great job with running the camera footage was really good. Pretty cool. Got some buddies with some tags look forward to more dirtnap blizzards.
