so i went back out this morning after my first class around 930.... i found my blood trail again and started following... i got to the spot it stopped and started tracking his tracks...... to make this a short story i didnt find him.... this is the first deer ive ever lost its just been a bad week for hunting for me opening day i miss a fat doe then this.... but i guess all be right back out there this weekend trying to do it all over again.... i guess thats why they call it hunting and not killing...

Do you have access to a good hunting dog? A friend of mine has had luck with that in the past. Just a thought.

Dont give up so soon. You might have hit him high and his chest cavity is filling up with blood and thus no blood trail. Start doing some sweeps of where you might of thought he went. Good luck!

Definitely don't give up yet. I had the same scenario two years ago with a liver hit. I had rain to deal with that night and what little blood trail I had was gone by first light. I searched for 4 hours looking for that deer in all the obvious spot and ended up finding him 200 yards away from where I had last blood. Make sure you check every water source in the area - and check it twice. I had walked by this deer twice before I eventually found him. I found him tucked up in a creek bed and the only way to see him was to walk the creek bed both ways.

Good luck and try to stay positive. Get some buddies to help if you can.

good avice, you gotta look harder than that. Move slowly from the last blood spot. I know it's tough to move slow when your hopes are high. He'll turn up. Get some buddies and grid the area.

we did the grid search this morning were going back out after practice this afternoon trust me im not giving up yet i know hes out there.... will find him

Shackdaddy I'm not far from Oskaloosa if you need a extra set of eyes get ahold of me I'd be more than happy to help you look for him.

Don't give 'r up yet. Last year we found one 2 days after my Brother in law shot him. We noticed the crows were circleing and kept flying in and out of that one spot. Watch the little signs like that too. Good luck, Keep looking.

thats why im going back out tomorrow i figure by tomorrow the birds will be on him.... we did that 2 years ago with my dads buck

take a dog out with you or something. this happend to my dad's buck. We tracked him for about 2 miles. And we couldnt find him. Went home for lunch and came back out with our dog. Sure enough the dog found him lodged in between two Evergreens. Had to get the chain saw to get him out. But if it wasnt for the dog we wouldnt have found him at all. Good luck to you and dont give up so easy!

It took me 3 days one time to find my buck but I found him. it wasn't the biggest but the most special , in the sense that i had worked so hard to find it.
