Small Parcel Hunting

With the recent property posts I figured I would start a thread where people can share pictures and info on small pieces they own/hunt to give a little perspective as to what these can offer. I purchased the 8 acres (triangle timber on the road bend) without really knowing anything about the area other than an aerial view and one time walking it. The previous owners appeared to only use the property for camping as there wasn’t any trail cam or hunting history. It appeared to connect well to the neighboring blocks of cover so I felt good about the potential. I was lucky enough to finalize the deal and have had it for 3 full hunting seasons. The main creek runs east/west and is roughly 30-40 yards paralleling the road. This creates a great funnel directing most of the travel through the middle of the timber. I have added a couple of large garden sized food plots and rotated clover and brassicas. There’s also a second creek that enters from the timber to the north and I’ve watched from above as the deer have crossed the road on several occasions. That's awesome. Are the dates off on the cam though since most show 2006? That really shows that it doesn't take much even with a good stretch of road frontage. And success with both deer and turkey, that's what I'm talking about! These smaller parcels get me excited. Something I can relate to and definitely afford.

This property is just under 15 acres with a 1.5 acre pond, 5.5 acres of hay, and some timber. There's big ag fields to the north and south and bigger timber blocks to the east and west. Last year was my 1st year bow hunting it, but I'm impressed at the number of deer that move through it. I'm buying another 6.6 acres above the top end of the pond so I don't end up with a neighbor that wants to build.

Sep, yes unfortunately the cuddebacks firmware can no longer be updated so the year continues to remain stuck in time haha! Everything else is good for now and hope it stays that way for awhile because those are my favorite for image quality. All pics are since the end on 2015.

Man these are cool! The smallest properties I have hunted have been doing the urban deer hunt. In college I got permission to a 10 acre piece that I never hunted but I always wish I would have at least thrown a trail camera on it.

Have permission on a 9 acre piece that is just a small creek and row of trees but it lies between a sanctuary and larger tracts. It doesnt look like much but can access from the road or through the fields. Red circle is where I can hunt. Blue is town that has some sanctuary timber and brush. Every year since we've had permission there has been big bucks on camera in daylight and the year of the giant we had him daylight in October
