Finally got out Friday to do some snagging in Keokuk. Only open water I know of. We got our limit of spoonbill Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Also hooked into some real big asian carp. There was alot of people snagging and they werent having much luck. I ended up finding the fish stacked up thick in 3-10 ft. of water out of the current in a rocky area.100'x100' area. I guess they seen me pull a couple out because theres been 2-5 boats there the last 2 days now. Dam 18 will be open water in a couple weeks. Thats when we get into the BIG spoonbill. Can't wait. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
Theres was 10-12 boats out walleye fishing when i was out snagging also. They were all having good luck catching fish with a Big jig and a minnow. First place we hit we couldnt catch anything but channel cats. I didnt want to harm them because ill be wanting to catch them in a month or two so we moved on. Heres a double that my buddy mike got.
The picture quality is poor. We were both tired and ready to head home. Heres Mike with 2 of the MANY asian carp we snagged. They put up a good fight. He likes to cut them asian carp up and put them in a smoker. I guess they have a sweet taste. Id rather order a pizza or something.
Heres me with my limit. Made for a ziploc bag full of meat. Cant beat that. Once my other 2 holes are open water the fish should get bigger. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
