Snood Ticklin'

Woke up at 4 this morning just long enough to walk outside and walk back in. Snow and cold is not for this turkey hunter.

So I snuck out to the farm this evening with hopes of roosting a bird for the morning hunt. Nestled in to a nice napping tree and let out a few calls. Called in a coyote and got ready to whack him, and he would not come out of the brush. Few more calls, and rested my eyes a bit.

At about 6:30 I let out another series of yelps and rolled over to see two hens headed my way with a half strut tom behind them!! Alright!! We're in business.

I made a few move love noises, and they were on their way. The first hen that came up over the lip of the ditch did not like the decoy, or the fat guy rolling around behind it, so she started to head off to the West, and the other two peeked over the lip. KABOOM. Lights out.

It was the darndest thing, the half strut tommy had a half a beard, and half his spurs :) I had a feeling that was the case, but wasnt going to get hung up on that for my first turkey on the farm.

Ill have to make it up to Skully during forth season. I wish I would of had a few of Bonker and TR's stickers to stick on stuff today.

Plenty of birds on the farm after the long heavy haul.

Now that you killed the largest turkey poult in the county get out there and kill his daddy! :D Easy for me to say since I haven't stepped foot in the woods at all yet! Its always good to get the first kill on a new farm and some dang tender camp meat to boot. Hope I can contribute something this weekend. :drink1: Team Turkey-gasm is on the board!!

Congrats! You take that photo with a gopro? If you were down on your farm, there were definitely quite a few birds working the area the end of March so I'd say you have plenty of stock :way:

There are a lot of birds down there! I did use a gopro to take that picture. It was laying next to me the whole time not taking video of course :)

Did it have half a snood as well? :D Congrats brotha :way:

If there is anything that I can hang my hat on, it's that I can proudly say that I've never killed a turkey with half a snood! If I could have added his snood measurement into the turk calculator, I believe, but not convinced, that this bird would have broke that magical "40" barrier, that seperates the boys from the men.
