Every year we hear about people getting caught while shooting at a fake IDNR deer setup. Usually a fake big buck some distance off the road. Often the shooters are driving on the road and shooting centerfire rifles from their vehicle. They shoot, the DNR Officers nab them.

So here is the question:

Decoys are used in every state that I have lived in for catching people shooting from the road way. It's a good tool that law enforcement can use.

I wish they'd do it more often. And when they do catch someone don't just give them a slap on the wrist...

if someone is stupid enough to shoot from the road, they oughta get a ticket no matter what......

i agree with nannyslayer, my cousin is a game warden in my county, and they need to use them more around here than they do. a great tool to eliminate the greedy, slob hunters that give the rest of us a bad name.

I suppose, but they would have to do it after they poach two does, other wise they would lose the buck. This way they could get a buck tag issued, pay the fines on the two does, and still be money ahead from what they would have paid an outfitter. So this is what we'er looking at. (1) 12000 NR = 24000 does, (2) fines paid to the state and not outfitters.(3)12000 poachers caught at will.
