So why doesn't anyone harvest their own P(deer)

We all seem to use some brnad of scent. Why not harvest that early season doe and take along an old cajun injector and a container????? I'm going to give it a go this year. If I take one later in the season perhaps it will be one that is being chased by a buck. That will tell me if she is close to estrous, harvest and freeze that.

I don't know am I nuckin futs or why haven't I seen this brought up?

I've always thought of doing the same, but never seem to take a container with me. Maybe this year.

I'm usually too excited that I have one on the ground to think about it.

Also, I'm not sure how much water this holds, but I've read or heard that a deer can smell in the urine if the deer was being pressured or not. Scared Deer pee might be a bad thing to be spraying around.

I'm sure somebody on this site can either confirm or punch holes through this.

Good luck to you this year.

Plenty of views?

So is this just so ridiculously stupid, that everyone is waiting until I try it so they can laugh, or is everyone scratching their heads and pondering?

I have done it. I have saved bladder full of urine from both bucks and does. Doesn't seem to matter if it is doe, buck, fox or human... urine is urine. Not sure, but I think most of the goodies that a doe has are added to the urine after it leaves the bladder, plus the the estrus molecules disperse so fast that they wouldn't still be there even if you froze it. IMHO.

I've thought about it too. I don't do it because I carry enough useless crap with me that a syrine, needles and container would be just that much more. I even thought about harvesting the uterus and ovaries and grinding them up in the urine. I think I'd end up with a rotten smelling plie of goo that would be more of a detractor than atractor, not to mention I think he ovaries in a deer would be pretty hard to disect out.

How about the scent glands on the inside of the back legs? Does a doe put off any scent from those?

I don't mainly because I believe the only good scent is no scent

We saved the tarsal glands off of a buck that my dad shot last year coming into his decoy and used them the next day. I didn't see a deer to try them on but they sure smelled like musty, rutting buck unine. They would probably only work for a few days after harvested because they may rot.

I have thought about taking the urine from deer but have never done it. I may try it this year.
