Every time I’ve found a dead deer in winter or spring I’ve examined hooves. In last 5 years I’ve probably snapped pics of 75-100 hooves like this.

. Some ehd/BT & I wonder how many might be “hoof rot”? Not sure but I suspect most are in fact ehd/BT late casualties. Late season I would see a lot of deer with infected hooves like this. Check out hooves if u find dead deer winter/spring. Often times ehd/BT will crack hooves & infection later is what ends up getting them.
