I love stepping out on the back patio at daybreak and listening to the sounds of spring...birds start chirping, an owl hoots and then....they sound off!

Man i can't wait until i get to hear that thundering gobble. Only 36 more days. Whats a guy suppose to do with the days in between? I have done my fair share of shed hunting. I have realized that all the big sheds have sunk into the ground or there are only 2 1/2 yr old 8 points running around with their other side on. Can't find a match!!! So, the last few days i've been out all i have been doing is looking for turkeys. So, what to do with my 36 days, hmm.........

Yeah, well the sounds of spring around my house are a little different. A bunch of damn cats yowlin in heat and the toms fightin over ‘em. So many targets and no release of weapons. My command and control keeps me pretty well locked down. I can’t wait for the day she lets me “go to missiles”, like that will ever happen. Ya never know though, a missile might just fall off the rack and land on a cat. Oops.

Another sound of spring around my house is “Get your lazy stinky butt outta that chair and get outside and clean up the gravel you pushed onto the lawn with your snowplow, and while you’re at it, pick up all the sticks too. And don’t even think about trackin mud onto my clean floors. You better be sure and move that dead possum away from the barbeque. Take down the Christmas lights too.”

Spring sucks.

The only thing that I have been hearing are the sounds of honking horns and traffic. I am in Washington DC, although I am enjoying the warm weather and sight seeing, especially the new WWII memorial, it is really a great piece and a great honor to the WWII vets. Can't wait to get into the woods and hear some gobbling and smack a gobbler in the head.
