Speaking of some great art at the Iowa Deer Classic, how many of you checked out Larry Zach’s "Goldfinch on Ironweed"? I thought the beauty and detail of this fine art was very impressive.
Bonker, you know the only reason you ended up with that print is because the 'kid and I hammered on you at the banquet. Next year, when we say 'bid' . . then, darnit - BID !
As a consolation, there is some kinda wetlands benefit auction in CR this weekend. The channel 9 morning news showed some of the artwork that has been donated and the Goldfinch print was in front.
I can't make it so its all yours. Cammoman and Kidlet can help you bid if you want. They are so good at it that I think I rasied myself a couple of times.
I am continually amazed at the number of people who attend these banquets to help raise money for habitat, wildlife and hunting rights. I especially appreciate all the hard work done by hundreds of folks who volunteer to put these banquets on each year in Iowa. All of us that enjoy the great outdoors, hunters and nonhunters alike owe these people a big thanks!
If you haven't been attending your local PF, DU, WTU, NWTF, SCI, IBA or other banquet consider giving them your support. Take the better half out for the evening. Buy some raffle tickets, enjoy a good meal and good company, tip back a cold one and support those who support what you value.
It should be us thanking you for donating the prints. If you didn't donate them we wouldn't spend the money, the groups you donate your prints to wouldn't get near as much in the auctions and the groups then couldn't do as much for us.
I actually won pick of the auction two years ago at our NWTF Banquet and I had to have the Foggy Morning Trio painting. Its awesome! I got in an all-out bidding war over the third painting in the series a few weeks ago at our banquet , with a lady who either had alot more to drink than me, or a helluva lot more money than me!
Plus, it doesn't help when you are trying to raise your hand to bid and your wife is pinching you under the table, harder, and harder with every bid!
Those auctions are a blast and I would like to thank Larry and all the fine people who donate to them.
