Spraying clover and alfalfa?

Getting ready to spray a few "established " clover patches and a few alfalfa plots I just started this year. The Alfalfa is anywhere from 2-6" tall with oats as a cover crop. I'm seeing some weed pressure in the alfalfa, and the clover patches need some help too. I have a jug of Clethodim and 2-4DB, along with surfactant and crop oil on the shelf that I can use in my ATV sprayer. How would you go about spraying everything? I'm considering mowing the clover first, to get the grasses into a growing phase again.

I would spray separately. Pretty sure the label says Cleth works better when not crank mixed.

Many will disagree with me and that’s fine but I wouldn’t mow. The plant needs to take the chemical in and more leaf surface will allow more chemical to get to the roots. The roots are the same size regardless and imo, less leaf material doesn’t promote as good of a kill.

I like to go heavy on spray. I would do 12/14 ozs on the Cleth and 2 qts on the 2-4-db. I don’t have near as much experience with alfalfa as I do clover.
