one thing i noticed is a loose stand is more prone to squeeking...
make sure that sob is cranked tight to the tree, add a ratchet strap or somthing....
pull-tight straps dont get tight enough....so use 1000 lbs. load capacity ratchets....
that oughta quiet it down a bit

Ratchets are the way to go. Then make sure you don't have any loose bolts on your joints

Nick make sure on the api's where the stand contacts the tree that the paint is filed off. Small thing but can make a difference. Oh, and buy Dennis's Lone Wolf in the classifieds. It is a steal.

A tube of silicon on the expanded metal where it meets the "floor joists", (if you will) really helps with metal on metal contact. Quick and easy.
Pry the metal away from the joists just a bit before applying the silicon.

Is your API riveted or welded, I have a couple and one of the real old ones has rivets, that is one squeeker SOB. The welded ones are much better and I haven't had any problems with them squeeking. As for the one with rivets, I have found that a little silicone around the rivets works, but needs to be replaced every year or so. Also, I have had luck with some graphite lubricant, but again needs to be applied more frequently.

Like was said earlier it might be a little loose. If it is try this if you aren't already.
Once you get the stand up, climb into it and follow these steps.
Put your left foot right at support bar that is closest to the tree.
Then w/ your right foot hook it under the front of the trestand and lift up.
This should slide the treestand down the tree and tighter to the tree than any other method.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, BUY A LONE WOLF!
Once you get the stand up, climb into it and follow these steps.
Put your left foot right at support bar that is closest to the tree.
Then w/ your right foot hook it under the front of the trestand and lift up.
This should slide the treestand down the tree and tighter to the tree than any other method.

You hear alot of hype but lwt me tell ya, out of all the money spent on hunting besides my buy the alpha setup w/sticks is the BEST money spent by far. GOOD LUCK!!!
