stripped screw holes

I have a ruger 10/22 that the holes to the scope mount has been stripped,any ideas on how to fix this ?

Yup. If you want it to be accurate I'd retap it...

I would be surprised if they made a coil that small. Tryy retapping it to the same size first and if that doesn't work, go the next size bigger or fill those holes and move the holes a 1/4 inch or so one way or the other

I dont think they make coils that small, those are for spark plugs, start with re tapping it, you can do this yourself by just buying the tool, all a taper is doing is re shaping the threads, if that doesnt work then if you buy a fancy enough tool it will come with a thread remover tool and then u can remove the threads and re tap with slightly bigger threads, of coarse with that you would haft to use a slightly bigger screw. Thanks coot! Now knowing that they have them that small i have many old guns that are mid restoration that need some.

You can buy little kits that come with many different sizes, ask for them at menards or home depot
