Successful hunt 11-4-12

The morning started out with light rain which almost had me staying in bed. I checked the radar and it looked like the rain would quit right around sunrise. I headed to an area that I had been waiting for the right wind direction.

Shortly after daylight I caught movement. It wasnt what I wanted (a deer of course) rather a coyote. Soon another one appeared. They played out in the open approximatyley 60yrds from my stand. I needed them to cross a pond dike in order to get a clear shot.

Soon they worked their way across the dike. The first one stopped at 31 yards. I shot him and actually spined him. Dropped him in his tracks. The other one thought they were playing so he continued to run around. When the one that was shot didn't follow, he stopped at 49yrds giving me a broadside shot. Jusst that morning I asked a question on the forum about the new Rage 2.3" broadhead and how it performed. Well, I answered my own question. As you can see by the gaping hole in the shoulder of the loyer coyote, they work awesome.

I never did see as deer that morning however this will go down in the books as one of my most successful hunts.

Sweet shootin' :way: I gave one a shave yesterday morning...but he lives to see another day.

Very nice! I got busted by one yesterday morning as I was reaching for my bow. I shoulda just unstrapped and jumped on him, he was going right under me.

I've been wanting to shoot a coyote with a bow for several years now. I'd even trade a couple doe tags for one! Great job!

I've got a pair that is working the area I have been bow hunting. I started carrying a predator call yesterday. Hope to call them within range next time I see them.

Congrats on the double, that is awesome.
