Swamp Bur Oak Hybrid

I just checked my Swamp Bur Oak plantings in MN. Zone 4 (Western part of state) ... The growth and survival on these trees is quite impressive.

Variety of soils, doesn’t seem to matter, doing very well.

Should be quite the gem for the better soils and better growing conditions in Iowa.

It’s been a good growth year for Swamp White Oak, & the Swamp Bur Oak Hybrid !

This is in Minnesota.

They are a great tree for Iowa/Missouri... I’ve bought mine from Kelly Tree Farm in Iowa.
***if the grow like that in MN, it would be way better down in Iowa.

I had a handful shipped to MN from Kelly tree farm in IA last spring. 18" seedlings planted last spring - where they get full sun most are approaching the top of a 5' tree tube now in year 2 in less than good soil.

I think I’ll order a few potted Swamp Bur Oaks (5-6 foot) and try to baby them on my new Missouri farm.

We have rural water now…so I can water the trees a couple extra times.

I’m also adding some Red Oak, Swamp White Oak, Pin Oak, Bur Oak & some Concordia Oak (seedlings)!
