Tags left over?

I made a shortcut to see how many was left during season and it says 1/14/15 on the bottom. I sorta ran together when I copied it but the 1st number was the number available and the second is how many was left.

Wow! Other than a few counties, it looks like they didn't leave much on the table. I'm sure only a percentage got filled, but good revenue anyhow.

That was my view, purchase more tags than I figured I would fill. Fund the DNR that everyone says doesn't respond to their calls on trespassing, poachers, etc. They can't do their job without funding and they are low on the funding totem pole of the legislature.

It is kind of interesting that less tags were sold, a couple seasons were removed but we ended up shooting about 2000 more deer than the previous year. I suspect we will be around that 100,000 mark the next few years.

Those SE counties all are pretty high in the doe permit dept. Still the thinking deer numbers are large down there. Guess they are,,but not around me..

Google says VB is 490 square miles, I don't hunt there, but that county has a lot of habitat compared to others. Would it be safe to say that half the county is huntable acres, if we take out road, towns, open fields, rivers, etc?
3800 / 245 = 15.5
After everyone gets their 2 state tags, many get up to 3 free landowner tags, do you think another 15-16 antlerless deer can be killed per square mile ?
This shows the absurdity of the tag numbers....didn't this county used to be 5000-6000 ?

I wonder if they get figures from how many does are killed without doe tags but used any sex tags instead. It would be curious to know how many does are tagged that way, opposed to doe tags... or at least it would be interesting for me

I would guess "yes" in that when you call in a harvest you enter the tag number then answer the question if you harvested a buck, doe, button buck, shed buck. The tag number will indicate what the tag was issued for and the questions indicate what you killed and put the tag on. Caveat: I haven't needed to call in a harvest in over a year so my memory of the harvest reporting questions could be off. I also don't remember seeing the harvest data split out like that but it would be interesting. In fact, the last deer I killed was a doe and I put my either sex tag on it.

You killed a deer bonkers?? TR tie it up for ya on top of one of those mountains? ;)

Yes and no. GMCed one. TR had a deer tied up for me but I couldn't make it up the mountain on foot so I was driving up the mountain and a different one jumped in front of my GMC.
