With the new season approaching ever so quickly, I'm curious to hear how many of you folks have in mind a certain buck that you plan on focusing your attention on this fall. Maybe it's one that you've been watching the past few years, one that you've caught on a trail-cam but have never seen up close, or maybe a buck from a shed you've found this spring. I've got two different bucks in the same general area that I plan on focusing on this year, and although I don't know for sure that they made it through last year, I'm hoping they show up on a trail-cam or in the spotting scope this summer. Previous sightings of good bucks are usually what drive a-lot of us throughout the off-season and into the new one, let's hear about some of yours.

I did not find a shed that I would have liked to this year, saw the deer multiple times but not in quite awhile and not since I had my fence cut. I fear he is the one that got poached.

I have two that would make me very happy.

I saw them together early last year and they didn't get shot during slug or muzzleloader season and I did not find either of them dead this winter or spring.

There was a big droptine buck that I saw twice last November (8th and 9th I believe) but never saw again. I have every reason to think that he's still alive. But I also like to be surprised during the season by bucks I never knew were there.

I had two from last year that I had my eyes on but one was shot 1st shotgun and the other I haven't seen since shotgun so hopefully he was just hiding out. It is always really neat to harvest a deer that you have been watching and pattering.

Oh...you so funny Freddie. No, these deer are in a different location down south of me. One of them is truely incredible, I nicknamed him "The boat steering buck." Can't wait to get after him this fall.

I have never picked out a specific buck and said "This is the ONE"!

But, there are four bucks in the my area that I would be real happy with. Hopefully I will get some pictures off the mineral sites in July.

1) Turkey Head Shed Buck - 200+
2) Survivor Buck - 180+
3) Tractor Buck - 180+
4) Bell Buck - 200+

It has been a goal of mine to have trail pictures and the sheds off my 2005 Fall bowkill. Time will tell...

And just maybe this November will be spent in the tree instead of behind a computer trying to make a deadline.

In Ia I have my sights set on a paticular buck that I saw two consecutive mornings while going into my stand, the first morning I was late and he was exiting on the trail that leads to my stand (go figure). He was a very impressive 10 last year, that I would guess would have been 170+ typical, so I am looking forward to seeing him again this year.

In IL I am after the elusive giant. Twice last year I had the big boy in muzzy range but couldn't find and opening to take him. This deer is absolutely huge with 12-14" G2's. I am guessing he would have been in the upper 180" to low 190" last year. None of the neighbors took this deer so we are really looking forward to getting after him.

I have three bucks in mind. Cedar tree buck, Big 8, and Half-shed 8. I haven't seen any of them from the treestand, but feel that I have learned quite a bit about them during post season scouting this past winter and spring. Hope to put a few more pieces of the puzzle together this summer.

Ghost,
nice buck! When I first saw the "cedar tree buck" that I am after, I thought that I was looking at a dead cedar tree in the woods. When he moved I realized it was actually a giant 10 point velvet rack that just looked like a dead cedar tree! Didn't know what else to call him.

I got my target buck last yr on the first night, doubt I'll ever get another one.

I do have some in mind that I'd take this yr for sure.
1. Ernie Buck- I found one shed this yr, kid found another, scores about 200.
2. Big g2 Buck Have 2 singles from seperate yrs, you've seen pics, he's big!

3. Backwater Buck- sheds last spring scored 170 ish, I'll take him this yr if I get the chance.

Of course some come along that are never seen. My neighbour found 2 big single sheds in his yard this winter, one 90+ with a big flyer, another 80" 5pt with major mass. Who knows what is out there?? I'm not holding my breath though.
