Taxidermist in Des Moines area?

I'm looking for somebody closer to home. Is there anybody in the DesMoines area that you all recommend from past experience? I'm looking for top quality for hopefully not much more than $500 for a shoulder mount and a 6-12 month turnaround. However price isn't as important to me as the quality. Also within 1.5 hrs of D.M. would be ideal. I'm sure I will get a ton of replies so bring it on. Thanks

I use Brian Keltner hes over by Badger Creek. Keltner Taxidermy hes done 2 deer for me. Great Work Great Prices FAST Turn around

If price isn't that much of an issue that tells me that you want quality and in that case the miles shouldn't make a whole lot of difference either. Take it to Joe Meder and never look back.

Steve Conner in creston. If you get your early deer into him, he said they will be done by turkey season almost every year. Later deer, he can usually get them done by then, but might be just after.

I agree!!!!!!!

my Friend in northern Iowa Hooks and Horns is awesome. He is in Nora Springs Ia couple hours north of Des Moines but worth the travel. He is fast at getting them back and very detail oriented. Let me know if you are interested by email and I can give you his number. jjclaus13@gmail.com

Yup. Hell, mine go all the way to Michigan to get mounted. Expensive and long turnaround, but the end product is phenomenal. I have heard great things about Joe Meder and would not hesitate to use him either after seeing his mounts.

No offense to Conner, but if I was driving to Creston, I would take my head to Dan Adamson way over Conner. Conner does good work, but Dan's is over the top better.

Or I would go to Jerrad Dreeszen in Afton. He is a great taxidermist as well.

Agree 100%. A lot of guys think their taxidermist is good, but really don't know what they are looking at. Spend the few extra bucks and go to Joe. This early and you'll get him back fast, probably 4 months or so.

Brad Coulson, Coulson Taxidermy has done mounts for me for years and have never had a problem. Takes about 12 months and is on the southside of Ankeny. 1570 NE 70TH (515) 289-2789. He was a great help to me also on putting a replacement amount for the insurance company when I lost all my mounts in a fire.

I don't know how far Iowa City is from Des Moines, The Rack Shack, Steve Olsen is the owner and he does some of the finest work I have ever seen.

Marlin Hoch of Hoch's Taxidermy is the best taxidermist I know, deer look like they ran through the wall when he is done with them. Plus, your not going to wait half a year to get them back, my deer took about 6 weeks to get it back and it was shot 1st season shotgun. His price is right around $500 or so but his work is worth the money. His number is 641-947-6723 he is located outside of Knoxville, close to melcher or about 30-45 minutes from des moines.

I can't believe Rick Whitaker's name hasn't been brought up yet. Lives in between Knoxville and Pella. He only works on whitetails. Great guy to work with to at a reasonable price for the high quality of work.
