Taylors first deer

Well after deciding she's not about all the walking during shotgun season and the cold weather during late muzzy, my sister decided she wanted to try early muzzy this year. So I went and put up a couple 2 man ladder stands on well traveled paths and we headed out Saturday morning. About an hour after daylight this doe presented an 80 yard shot and Taylor sent 245grs her way. When the smoke cleared and the deer ran off I noticed that the deer wasn't using it's far front leg and assured Taylor she hadn't missed. As stated in an earlier thread I am colorblind and it makes it nearly impossible to see blood. So when we climbed out of the stand I sent Taylor to where the deer was standing to look for blood and I peeked over the ridge. When I seen the deer piled up in the ravine I decided this would be good time to have a little fun. So I walked back over and asked if she had found any blood. She said no and was starting to blame the gun so I told her everyone misses at some point let's head for the truck. On the way down the hill as we were getting closer to the deer I told her maybe we should have practiced a little more. She muttered something about how she couldn't believe she missed and how the shot felt good. Deciding it was time to change her frown to a smile I told her if we would have practiced a little more the deer wouldn't have went so far and pointed the deer out to her. She went from being down to being happy pretty quick. She made a good shot and I can't believe the deer made it as far as it did. I never thought a doe would have my heart going as much as this one and I'm glad it all came together. She still has a buck tag in her pocket so we will see if she can squeeze her first buck in this year as well. Good luck to everyone this fall.
