Does anyone have experience using a Thompson Center Encore with a shotgun barrel for deer hunting? Just wondering how the accuracy was and how far the drop was at 150 and 200.

Great guns! For stand hunting I'll add... prob one of the top 5 that $ can buy as far as slug guns go. 1-2" groups at 100yds with ease. My buddy has one. Personally, I'd go with the 20ga barrel.

not the best option if your doing deer drives. JMHO.

We strictly sit during gun seasons. Anymore one of us in the family hunts first or second season so much that we thought a shotgun barrel would be nice. Just as accurate and as much knock down power with less smoke, less cleaning, easier reloading, and not have to worry about primer going off.

Agree which is why I got one. Haven't shot 200 but 100 is just as accurate as the musket. I went with the 20.

I have the 20 gauge barrel , I originally bought it for my sons to use for youth season since it was a single shot. It shoots so well I started using it also during slug season. I shoot Hornady 2 3/4 sabots and it's a tack driver for a shotgun. My 11 year old son shot a doe at 125 yards with it holding dead on and smoked her. I prefer it over my 870 12 gauge with slug barrel.

Anybody with experience out to 200 yards?

Yes. I shot my buddies TC 12 game at a water bottle 210yds. Held about 6" high and blew the bottle right out of the snow..

My dads friend used another guys 20ga barrel and with no range finder, or even skill at judging distance, held mid shoulder on a giant 200" buck and smoked it with a heart shot! We ranged it later from the stand to the blood and it was 180yds. That gun was +1" at 100, -3" at 150, -10" at 200.
