I was reading a thread that Ghost submitted earlier in the week about "afternoon toms" and it fired me up. Opening weekend was nasty here in the south and the turkey deciced to stay silent all morning. With no luck and a little discouraged, Monday I read the thread and decided to leave the office early and try my luck. Needless to say after a hour or so in the woods this guy came in following five hens. It was a long shot but I told myself I would regret it if I did not pull the trigger. He was not a huge bird but I was happy. He weighed 19.5 lbs, 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Always nice to have one under your belt early in the season. This site is the best!!!!!!
