The cedar tree project with a tree shear w/grapple

We cleared about 20 acres of cedars some time ago. 20-25 year old overgrown fields. Grandpa bought an old 80 horse Gehl, stump bucket, and built a tree puller. The tree puller worked well for a good portion of the project but the bigger cedars and anything that had a tap root took more than just that. Most of the time we would just shear the oaks or cottonwoods a foot or two below surface level with the puller. Since cedars spread out more than they dig deep, we would dig around the big cedars with the stump bucket, ripping roots, then come back with the puller and yank them out.
