The Ghost

Does anyone still use this scent elimination spray? Have you noticed any drop in its effectiveness or any odor in the liquid itself? Ive used this stuff since it came out and always use to play around with it to test it, I work at a bar a couple days a week and I use to test this by spraying down my smoky clothes at the end of the night. Surprisingly it use to completely kill all noticeable odor but last year I tried this with ghost spray out of two different gallon jugs and neither one of them took the edge off of the smoky odor, is it possible that maybe now that they have a good customer base that maybe they started skimping on the active ingredients making a weaker product to save a buck or two? But what bothers me more is that I bought a gallon of it again this year and just had to break it out but when I opened it up it had a destinct chemical odor that was very noticeable in the jug. It smelled like rubbing alchohol, so I tried putting it in a spray bottle and sprayed some on my hands and on some random clothes thinking maybe it was the jug that had the odor but my hands and the cothes now had the alchohol smell, so Ive got a gallon of the ghost for sale real cheap if anyones interested /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif because Ive now got no confidence in it

Yes, I have noticed the smell too. I noticed it last year for sure and maybe two gallons ago. Yep it was two gallons ago. I bought one and took it home and smelled it, still used it. Next year (last year) I bought another and kinda bitched about it where I bought it. They smelled the jugs and noticed the odor too.

I too would be intrested if the spray is still being used as much by the hunters on here and their results. Just to be sure, I'm talking about The Ghost total scent elimination spray, greenish in color and made in Iowa.

I got tired of trying to get it and quit using it. They did a poor job marketing a great product. It's unfortunate.

I use it regularly.I was planning on getting some more before the rut.I will try to smell the bottles to see if I can smell a alchohol smell.I get mine at Central Iowa Archery. Thanks for the heads up.If I don't smell the odor I would guess maybe a bad batch or change in the formula? Interested observation nonetheless.

I swear by the Hunters Specialty spray.... I have on more than one occasion seen deer stand in my exact tracks and not detect where I had walked. Mature deer, bucks and does...not just yearlings. I generally spray my boots tops and bottom before putting them on UPWIND of my exhaust on the back of my truck, also spray down my outwear from the waist down. Have seen deer walk through waist high grass where I had walked being sure they would pick up my scent and not get busted. Of course I go to great lengths to keep my clothes scent free as possible as well... I don't use any scent blocker or scentloc clothing....

Hunters Specialties makes their product here in Cedar Rapids.......

The Ghost spray definitely has an odor to it, used it for the first time last year and wasn't very impressed. I have heard several people say the same thing, that all of the sudden (last year) it developed an odor. Anyhow, I haven't used it this year and have half a gallon that will go in the trash or be used on something other than deer hunting.

The Ghost that I am using doesn’t have an alcohol smell to it at all. But I am still using from a gallon that I purchased last year. I have never had a problem with “The Ghost”.

I do agree with Limb’s quote above though.

I use to use the Ghost product all the time, but the company that made it was right next door to where I worked and we also distributed some of the products they make. The Ghost product was just a side thing they made because the owner and his son are both bow hunters. I was going to offer to help market the product around the state on my sales calls, but the company I worked for sold to a new owner and I moved on. They are just down the road from where I work now and planned on stopping in. I will find out if they changed anything, and let them know some people are noticing a odor. They make alot of automotive cleaning products and may have some cross contamination.

I started using the "Dead Down Wind" products a year ago and have definitely noticed going undetected last year and this year.

Dead Down wind smells like BBQ Sauce to me.......... But it sure seems to work! I switched to DDW last year and have no plans of switching back!

THA4, be careful using this product. I would hate to have you chew your arm off in the stand on a long sit! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

I like it, but then again I have a couple gallons that are a few years old. I sold alot of it back in the day....I even seen one goofy guy drink the stuff at Kent's place.

I mix up a batch of the home made brew,,fresh each yr. I bet this is the same main ingedient in all the stuff sold. The recipe is used by professionals in flooded homes,, etc. It works. The Hydo peroxide/baking soda/soap blend. Alot cheaper and fresh,,,each season.
