He thinks he protecting grizzlies by getting as close to them as he can. The nutbag tree hugger gets as excited about touching fresh bear crap as I do about finding a big shed. Guess he couldn't to become some.

Lord I appologize fer talking about the tree hugger getting eaten by the bear.

I seen the Primetime or 20/20 about him....or was it on IPT?.....unreal the footage he captured. It is the same one that he and his girlfriend are killed by a huge griz that he had a history with? This (audio) is captured and the reaction of those listening is unreal. He kinda looked like Kato Kalen?

Yes. I can't believe he survived 13 summers living out there as close to them as he got. Must have been a grusome find. It was an 26 year old bear. They were probably an easy catch for an old bear. It's pretty hard to feel sorry for the guy. He thinks hes protecting them but most of the time he is on a refuge where they can't be hunted. Really he was making it easier for the hunter by making them think people were not a danger.

You should have been in Alaska when that nut bag was eaten...what an uproar that caused between every group up there! He had a book written before he died....I only got to page 40 and I couldn't take all the little nick names he had for the bears, and how they were coming to him for safety, and how he was face to face at the door of his tent with some gigantic bear and they kissed and made out...just kidding ..

..it was almost that bad...he was a few beers short of a six pack.

They sure downplay the killing on that website. Amy beat the bear with a frying pan 6 minutes screaming the whole time.

They should have a peta convention up there every year.

"Tim was a friend of the bears. His passion was to share his observations that grizzlies are not the ferocious beasts we have always thought them to be."

Well if that aint the definition of irony....

"Tim was not without judgment or fear. Certain bears made him wary. In his book, he named Demon as a bear that scared him at The Maze (Kaflia Bay). He confided to me, "A person could get killed out here"."

Uh, no chit Sherlock.

No one will ever know what possessed the bear to kill Tim and Amie the evening of October 5. It is possible that it was a bear that Tim had never met.

I'm surprised the idiot made it 12 years. You play with fire you get burned.

This was on the Discovery channel last night. They are showing it again tonight in case anyone’s interested.

It was hard at times to watch someone so disturbed. I just kept shaking my head. My take on his behavior – he had abused drugs and alcohol to the point of almost killing himself. He just replaced these substances with the "high" of being close to these bears. As with all addicts they need more and more to get their "fix" – which drove him to put himself into increasingly dangerous situations.

The guy couldn’t deal with the reality of nature, as was witnessed several times in the film when he happened upon dead animals. One thing that struck me as funny, he had foxes that would hang out with him and he would pet them. IWs Kevin (aka Alaskan) told me that foxes up there would hang out around camps looking for a handout and you could get very close to them.

The guy did get some great video footage and photos, I’ll give him that. The director did a good job; it’s not a sympathetic portrayal – more like a document of his decent into madness. It’s too bad that a girl was there with him.

At the end they show his friends sitting around a table talking and one guy says that people always take their anger out on animals and that was what hunting was all about…

Good Lord… Funny thing, he looked like he was about to go psycho when he said that.

Anyway, it’s on tonight if you haven’t seen it. It’s not suitable for little kids, gory in parts and lots of bleeped out cuss words when he would go off on one of his rants.

Saw it last night myself...the guy was truely a product of some serious alcohol and drug abuse. I am suprised the bears tolerated him as much as they did...sows with cubs were close to him while he was shooting film, boars fighting etc etc.

It seemed that a few of the people they had on there were happy to see he ended up the way he did....I can't say I'm suprised based on the situations he put himself in that he was dinner for an old bear.

I wonder if the bear was just eating him and was planning on leaving the girl alone until the frying pan incident to the head for six minutes

I can't imagine what his girlfriend was thinking for the last 6 minutes of her life.
That guy got what he diserved. A bears gotta eat, I guess. Eat human - the other pink meat.

Watched it 3 times!! He just was not in TOUCH with Reality, you can blame it on his past BUT that doesn't cut IT!!

I didnt see the whole thing but what I did see was pretty entertaining. I especially liked the interview with the helicopter pilot.

Rain Rain Rain God please make it rain

He was so into his new life he could not deal with nother natures way of life and death. He really had no place on earth to get away from his past so he lived on the edge of , well reality

Theres nothing wrong with what he did, in fact I like being around bears, its like no other feeling, he just never respected thier space.

Kat, the foxes down there are just like curious cats, some get really close and some stick back a few yards.

It just goes to show that mother nature will thin out the weak and stupid of any species whether it is animal or human.

anyone see the Super Bowl Budweiser commercial? The resemblance to this guy was uncanny.
