The last few weeks projects & pics... updating....

Well- I’ll keep it going. Tile, trees, etc.
TILE. this is large scale but doing tile on wet areas is just huge. Fields or even plots- proper drainage is key. Can do this with a skid steer trencher for not a lot of $. Here’s the start.

here’s a few projects this week. I added more fruit trees, moved some & checked some babies in tubes behind house in high fence. This is a tree I moved last year as well


pond is filling up nicely!! Still a a ways to go.

oh- one pic below.... one row of Willow followed by row of cedars. Did this last year. In couple years this should be filled in nice. Usually stagger them but this will work.

Don’t get cheap one. Don’t get bobcat brand or bradco, etc.
Some good ones.... dutchman, Vermeer, Caretree, big John, etc. heavy duty is a must!! They really are not expensive if u shop for a solid buy on a well built machine. They are Simple so get heavy duty & not hard to repair if needed.

Tractor has better: down pressure & travel speed. Getting one connected has a few more hoops to jump through but minor.

skid steer: want bigger skid steer. Wider tracks preferred and heavier/bigger the better. Like it as it’s quick to connect & run & simple. Not as fast & not as much down pressure as bigger tractor. Can work in smaller spaces though too.

No right or wrong. Just preference. Each has its ups and downs. If u aren’t doing a gazillion- I’d just get one on what u have & can make work. If u didn’t like it or finished- probably sell spade for what u paid for it or close if it was used.

End of day today was more AG related... finishing tile jobs. More ideal to do in fall. But in this scenario it made sense. Few pics & I ran duals over with a “reverse disc” (whatever this is called) - to close trench. Worked nice & with some time- make it better.

So fun!!!! ‍. I just got done telling my buddy “I usually get stuck once a year. Last year it was ZERO- maybe I’ll make it another year!?!?” NOPE!! Came out pretty easy thank goodness. This is like burying your truck x10. Good times on the farm!!!!

Was just giving my pops a hard time the other day for burying his tractor and spray rig, I thot his was bad! Popped his right out too with a track hoe (overkill) that he had at the duck farm putting in new water boxes. I am way overdue to get stuck myself

He likes it a lot when he keeps it out of the mud!
Only complaint he has is that when he runs smaller batches he has trouble with the roller pump priming.

They look nice. The tank rinser and sits closer to tractor. Maybe one day!

Pallet junk logs are out. Worked on a 10-15 acre patch. More loads than this but only took big old stuff that were species I wanted gone. Left the good quality species.
& no till corn!! Done!! Went great!!! This field is about 8 years of no till now. Went in like butter. .

I had some guys I know do it.
I know quite a few options or folks that do it. So- if u wanna fire me where ur farm is- got some options.

N .... clearly we want to get any we can naturally.... legumes creating N. & brassicas and rye scavenging. U could get all u needed from the right legumes. In my case- I supplemented with treated urea on top. Or a guy could do liquid. Treated urea is very easy & can get it at Almost any coop. Simple math on N. Naturally created or scavenged + supplemented - wanted around the 200 actual lbs per acre.

Pond clean up had a delay. Back at it now. Boys got into it catching turtles & frogs. This old junk mud pond is actually gonna be nice. Not a lot of $ in reality. My hopes is to go from nasty stinky mud pit to clean & swimmable for kids.

Ha ha, reminds me of the good ole days. Growing up we rarely got a toy to play with so improvised catching anything I could and taking it home. That including snakes, turtles, baby rats (yes I did), a fawn and anything else that wiggled crawled or walked I could catch. Even a groudhog once that seemed to be in a stupor, he did chew his way through the summerhouse door by the next morning. Mom wasn't happy with the black snake in the kitchen though

Today & yesterday - not so much fun but had to be done….. newer trees I put some hay around em for mulch. Watered em. Took a cheesy selfie & doesn’t do Justice on how dirty and beat I am. Kids had vacation bible school so just wrapped up.
pond coming along. Kids fishing. Bunch of fun other than this heat.
Oh- got my crossing in!!!!!! Thx Tob !!!!!! 8’x32’. Big sucker!!!! Crossing made, sprayed & planted.

I’m gonna guess we could exchange hours worth of stories!!!!!! All we did in summer. My house was turned into a zoo. Let a GIANT snapper go in our pool when my mom had her friends over to swim….. like those 25-35 lbs ones. . Tubs, aquariums, kiddy pools - full of snakes, lizards, turtles, etc etc. had a 15’ Burmese python my mom just loved!!! Ha!!! Ferrets, iguanas, bearded dragons, skinks, raccoons, birds, u name it…. Good times!!!!
