I just bought primos, real wing. The hen wing you use to simulate a hen flying down off of the roost in the morning. I was wondering if the hens always cackals when they fly down?
Thanks
In my personal expeience it seems that some mornings all the hens cackle when flying down and other mornings only the "boss" hen does. I think that by doing a "fly down" on a gobbler that's roosted fairly close to you is a good idea. I've had fairly good results with that other than I use my hat and flap it around, it works just as good. Good luck!
When hunting near the roost, I will simulate a flydown by just slapping my gloved hands against my thighs a few times. Then scratch around some in the leaves.
I use a wing I saved from a spring gobbler and cut the feathers shorter so I can pack it in and out easier. I have also used my hat in the past.....makes a pretty convincing wing sound! Good luck and good hunting!
