[HIGH COUNTRY]

At 4:15 tonight I shot the one I have a picture of on camera. I hit him a little back, I think gut shot!! I'm waiting out till morning and hopefully I'll be able to find him. Any suggestions out there? I didn't follow his trail. The shot was a total pass threw at 35yds. The arrow had a light and dark brown, pink and milky residue. There was blood and hair at the spot were I shot him. He totally surprised me and every thing happen within 1 minute. Do you think leaving him overnight was the right choice? I saw the arrow all the way when it hit him back. He was facing to my right I stopped him with a grunt and let her fly.

Right on with the decision to hold back untill morning. Always good to do that unless you see him go down or know for 100% that it would bring him down quickly. If your shot was a gut shot and he was not bumped, he will probably be dead within 150 yards of your stand. Look in draws and thick areas if you cannot follow the blood trail well. If he doesn't get disturbed I bet you find him down the trail within a 100 yds. He might get up and move once or twice.
Have fun when you open him up.The smell is always nice.. especially early in the morning on an empty stomach.

You definatley did the right thing by backing out until morning. Same shot happened to me a couple of years back on a doe. I backed out until morning and found her expired 80 yards away right next to the creek under a multiflora rose bush. Let us know and take pics. I think you will find him.
