The worst experience of my life !!!!!!!!

My wife and I was riding our harleys last Sunday and the worst happened. She got off the pavement on to the gravel and laid it down then it threw her into the ditch. It was really tuff going back to see how she was. That was by far the tuffest thing I had ever had to go thru, just not knowing what I was going to find. When I got to her, she was still awake and her face was completly covered with blood but luckly it was just minor cuts. But her shoulder was broken and we called 911 and took her to the hospital. The next day she went thru a 4 hour operation.. She servered the ball off of her shoulder and they had to pin it back together.. We are back home now but it will be a long slow recovery.. She has been bow hunting for the last 4 years and she does not want to miss it this year. Im not famillar with crossbows and just thought someone might be able to give me some info...

Sounds just like one of my techs at the office...she had the same sort of wreck and injury about 2 years ago. Glad to hear she is not hurt any worse that she is.

I am very sorry to hear of your wife's accident. Take care of her, and I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Thank God it wasn't any worse than that. As to your inquiry about the crossbow, I think it may have to be a permanent disability of the upper extremities?? Call the DNR in Des Moines Monday and someone up there should be able to steer you in the right direction. Best of luck!

Glad to here she wasn't hurt any worse. Hope she gets well soon.

Last week, I was second to arrive on the scene of a crash with a man, his wife and child. The husband died laying beside me while I checking the pulse of his 12 year old daughter. It was a terrible site and I hope to never see it again. Drive careful folks!

I heard about Nancy Monday night and the guys said she would be in the hospital for a while. I'm glad she is home and doing better and even looking forward to deer hunting. I figured you would have your hands full with phone calls and well wishers. Get her a x-bow and put her in the Kill Tree, you have to drag the deer one way or the other. If not before I'll see you at the NWTF banquet. Good luck to Nancy and a speedy recovery.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts. She will slowly recover but 100% is not realistic. The doctor said that there is a small chance that she might have to get a shoulder replacement if it does not heal properly. We will just take one day at a time... she is not the kind to just set down and take it easy, she always has to be doing something.. We had plans on going to Sturgis on the 30 of this month with our bikes but we will have to settle for sight seeing from our vehicle.. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE !!!!!!!

Very unfortunate, I hope your wife can keep her spirits up, be positive & focus on the future. Best wishes!
