They Are Ready

Had a small buck chasing a couple of does around six. They ran off then came back and hopped into the corn field where two more bucks came out ready to chase. The does could have been less than interested. Bucks are ready, does are not. At least not in Boone County.

Oh the three does were two fawns and their mom. They were just being chased a little. Bucks seemed responsive to a grunt from another guy who hunts the land who was in a stand 100 yards away.

I rattled in a mature buck this morning. And then an hour later i had 3 bucks come by me in a single file line....? I am not sure it is time, but it is definitely starting to take off!

Rattled really aggressive at 7am today and had a small basket 6 pointer some in so fast it caught me off guard. but that was it till 10 when I had finally had enough. Went and set a couple stands for tonight. My other farm, those stands are surrounded by cows right now...

Just talked to the neighbor and hes not getting anything on trail cameras on 900 acres.......area specific for sure

Slow morning...had a doe/fawn bedded down at first light 200 yards away, they stood up, browsed for 30 seconds, re-positioned for the wind, and laid back down at 9:00. One forkie out moving along very slowly.

I don't think the bucks are ready yet. Maybe some early searching but we're at least another two weeks out. Every year there's talk about the rut being early and it never is. There were a lot of does out tonight on my evening drive, but didnt see any evidence of chasing.

I'd agree with a week away. Was covered up in does all evening and at around 530 had a 130 ten make a scrape and come by me at 30. He gets a pass this year. 10 min later a bigger ten worked the same scrape. Hung out at 45 yards and never gave me a shot. Went to check out the does, not to interestedin them. First mature bucks I've seen with good daylight left. It's clooooose! :way:

Saw the first chasin last night, bucks are Gettin pumped, does are not ready yet. Still having does with their fawns. If we keep these temps next week, i expect alot of mature bucks on their feet.,

Tonight I had three does and a button buck within 30 yards, then all of a sudden they took off running. Two bucks, one under 100 inches and the other big 8 I have on trail camera chased them pretty hard. Unfortunately they chased them away from me. Hopefully tomorrow morning they will be back!

Its getting pretty good in Marion county. Saturday morning saw two 140"+ bucks chasing, but never came closer than 200 yards. (I have pretty good binos). Sat. evening saw 4 small bucks, and a couple does. Bucks started fighting in an adjacent corn field. Tonight, a buck chased 3 does right by me. One doe split off from the other two and the buck followed her. I shot one of the other two does....come to find out it was a button buck! No antler sticking out at all.
