First of the title is extremely miss leading, second off I know 100 guys that could get charged with this junk. It's funny how they arrest the avid bow hunter that didn't call in one of his tags but don't even call me back about people trespassing with rifles during shotgun season on our ground and I have their plate info. Not to mention it was a young boy around the age of 9 with his Dad and teenage son in the get away pickup. Big deal, he dumped a raccoon, I could find where ENTIRE deer still tagged on private property dumped.

111 deer, come on thats excessive! I am sure they will dig a little deeper and discover more. Just be glad another idiot got caught. I understand calling and calling with little to no response or help, been there. But lets be happy the DNR was able to nail these idiots. It was also the timing of her call, I can't imagine the phone calls those DNR officers get for 3 weeks during shotgun seasons! Has to be completely overwhelming!

Sounds like they illegally harvested quite a few deer there! You sound a little pissed because you caught people on your land, which I'd be pissed too, but there are always bigger fish to catch as in this case. Hopefully they'll get your trespassers too but they're spread pretty thin.

I wish there was more info in the story. I doubt there were 100+ illegal deer. More than likely that was the number of skulls and probably sheds confiscated for the investigation. I hate the way the media takes a vague report and sensationalizes it. What are the actual charges? Littering and one unproperly tagged deer?

I'm with 6x6. How long are you suppose to keep a tag on a Euro or skull plate mount? I definitely don't want a piece of paper on every deer in my man cave. How can the DNR prove all were illegally taken? On the flip side if this family was out poaching the heck out of deer then I hope they lock them up and throw away the key.

I'm confused as to why anyone would be mad about this bust???? Dude needed popped from the sound of it. Having deer carcasses with unfurled tags, major issue!

The deer include sheds, and antlers the guys picked up and had salvage tags for. They're getting charged with the one unlawful tagging. I don't know what else. From what I heard the deer was tagged but wasn't called in within the 24 hour period.

There are so many rules and regs, They can always find something to charge you with. I had a CO say that to me once. Not that all regs are wrong.

Uh Oh, hear say huh.... Nah, it does grind gears, but clearly if they are busting someone, they must know more than the rest of us.... and for your frustrations about gun season, you wouldnt be shocked how many people I have trespassing and doing the same crap... I get blown off too...so I just keep calling and hope...

I'm with a couple other guys here, what are the charges? I'm sure they were doing something wrong and illegal. But 111 deer? It has to have been over multiple years from skulls and sheds.

I agree that there has to be additional information that we don't know and that the article doesn't state. I know this is Iowa and not SD where I live but if you shoot a buck and do a euro mount of it... is it necessary to keep the tag with that particular euro? Reason I ask is that in SD...they tell you to tag the animal on a back leg. Well once you tag it and do a euro...that tag is not something you can just take off and re attach to the skull... Just wondering what the correct thing to do in Iowa would be?

Or they've done other things and they haven't ever been able to prove it.

Now in Iowa,,if the deer is called in they have a record of your harvest. Why need for a tag on it? There are alotof mounts in Business's I don't see any tags on?

Exactly...so in the picture that was on the link above...that picture shows nothing wrong. So there is obviously more to the story. That picture tells you nothing

Looks like most of those are sheds and a few dead heads. I wonder what they were charged with to take all the sheds as well. Not sure why they are calling he sheds illegally harvested.

These guys are known poachers in the area. There was just never enough evidence to search the property. They finally slipped up and it's hopefully going to cost them. I'm not saying that some of these deer weren't taken legally but if the landowners and the hunters who actually have permission to hunt in the area could see some of these racks...lets just say they'd look quite familiar
