This is in the legislative forum.

Our IBA lobbyist has no money or favors to trade. He merely conveys the IBA's position and collects info on who IBA members should try to get calls and E-mails sent to. A grassroots effort. Compare that to oil industries or pharmaceuticals who do campaign contributions, future "consulting" jobs and lobbyists with expense accounts with NO grassroots input. When was the last time you got a call from BP to get you to contact a legislator on their behalf? C'mon guys, apples to oranges.

lobbyist try to do what they are paid to do and that is to influence legislatures to pass rules and laws that may not be for the good of the people but to somehow benefit others.Alot of people don't really care about this until it affects them personally. When you elect someone to office you would like to think they would be capable of making their own intelligent decisions. When the government comes in and regulates what priviledges some landowners have and other landowners do not have based on some lobbyist who is representing a few and not necessarily a majority of the people then I think people should really be concerned that the time may come when other rules that aren't fair to them may be established. As we are seeing recently they can even be some of our original rights such as the guns rights. Be cautious when you are patting some of these people on the back------------they may not always be your friends

as a side note I was told today that of the land sold about 70% is being bought by farmers. That may be an Illinois stat but at least it shows there is still more interest besides rich hunters
