this sorta annoys me

Holy crap Muddy, welcome to the site! There was a 9 page thread about this earlier this week! :way:
 
I find it a bit ironic that the governor keeps all the doe tags to reduce population but yet goes out and shoots a buck. Hopefully his ideas of the deer population weren't skewed due to being on a very well managed farm and hopefully, the Drury boys were able to clue him in a bit on what the deer population in the rest of the state is like and how it's suffering in many areas.

One good thing though is that we do have a governor who supports hunting and not a tree hugger!

yeah I got ya. Here's the 9 pages in a summary1

Drurys are the devil
Branstad wants all of the does dead
He should have hunted 'anywhere/nowhere else
it is a sin for someone to manage a farm and shoot big deer off of it
they let him hunt just to get tags every year
it was a publicity stunt by the stache (he's a slippery dude ya know)
now he will think there is a over abundance of deer in the state.

I donno, I think that about covers it. I may have missed a few things :grin:

No I think you covered it pretty well, the gov looked pretty excited. I hope that excitement works in our favor.

Haha well put, sir. I love how everyone is so quick to jump all over the Drury brothers for their way of living but I guarantee 10 out of every 10 guys on this forum would fall all over themselves to do the exact same thing.

I don't watch their videos and I can't comment yes or no- I really don't have a huge opinion either way. I do know about their land, some generic details. I would love to have that kind of ground, I do know that. And managed right, that's amazing.

I'm very thankful for what I have and I will say, I could video and I never will. That's a personal choice I've made. I have buddies that video and the extremes of marketing or not. Personally, I've made a choice to invest most my time into hunting with fam & close friends, no videoing. Small amount of marketing stuff (only thing I do is for fun mainly) & most my extra time helping others with management, habitat, buying land, etc. I love to see the every day guy succeed, make his/her land better and manage for old deer. Sorry for my wandering rant.....

Interesting, FWIW, I feel just about the same way. Sometimes I do wish I had some vids to look back on from when the boys started hunting and so forth, but for the most part I don't like all the hassle in setting up the cams, etc, so I don't. I am not knocking anyone else, but I like to enjoy my time in the stand and not feel bound to get it on tape, etc.

On a side note those God forsaken evil Drury brothers also are heavily involved in getting kids into the outdoors, hunter's safety, the Catch a Dream foundation, and taking disabled veterans hunting. Scumbags.
