Thistles revisited

There was a question awhile ago about thistles. I was at the yearly con ed for applicators yesterday and Dr. Fawcett had a slide on thistle control. He also “E”ed me the slide and this hand out that he had a couple of years ago.

OK, the slide didn't make it and the chart looks like crap. PM me with your Email address and I'll try to forward the Email I received to you.

All treatments applied using 20 GPA. Spring treatment applied 5/22/03 to 6-20” Canada thistle (most 10-16”), prebud. Soil 62F, air 70F, wind calm, little forage present.

Canada thistles mowed in late August prior to fall treatments. Fall treatment applied 10/7/03, thistles 3-8”; Soil 60F, air 75F, wind 2-8 S.

Tordon 22K and Grazon are restricted use products because of risk of injury to desirable plants and long soil residual. Some grass forage stunting may occur with these products with the high rates used in this trial.
