What are your thoughts about being able to buy an Any-sex Muzzleloader tag and an Any-sex shotgun tag in one year? Landowners can hunt early/late Muzzleloder and shotgun season.

Because you can buy a regular any-sex and a landowner any-sex tag. Do you think non-landowners should be able to purchase a regular license for muzzeloader and shotgun season like landowners?

I'm sure you guys have discussed this before. I'm just curious on your opinions. Instead of the traditional any-sex for bow and any-sex for one of the gun seasons?

It's never going to happen so why start a thread to get opinions on a hypothetical question? That in turn is just gonna cause a lot of arguing and get completely sidetracked after about 3 responses to the original question.
 
I would agree to one any sex tag you pick the season plus a land owner any sex tag to those who qualify. As the land gets broken down smaller and smaller this make sense to me. Not to mention all the loopholes that get exploited.

20 years ago I wouldn't have a problem with more tags. But the last couple years the less the better. Hypothetically speaking I would like to be the only tag holder in the county. But in my county its not the tag holder that are wiping out mature deer!
 
I'd much rather everyone just have one any sex tag and be able to use it during any of the seasons. That way you can enjoy every type of hunting or part of the season you want and still be able to shoot a buck if you're lucky enough.

One tag and eliminate season specific. Plus one landowner tag but increase minimal acreage to somthing more than 2 acres. Abolish party hunting.

I would be for this also. No need for shooting 2-3 bucks a year. Really hurts the population. Conservation is the key word, keeping something for the future so we can have good hunting year after year. Also something needs to be done about the landowner situation. Not sure what the answer is but it needs some tweeking.

This is not the intended purpose of the thread but while we are at it I'll put my $.02 for what is needed. I am fine with everything the way it is even though there are some things I don't care for. I choose not to encourage or worry about what methods I prefer simply because it would be a waste of time and energy.

What I believe needs to happen is increasing game related fines to a respectable level that will actually make perpetrators think twice before poaching, trespassing, etc. Make fines border line crippling for commiting game crimes with a big fine as well as automatic 1 year hunting ban with a citation. Use this money to fund what isn't funded enough (DNR) and provide resources for officers in at least every county as well as upgrade equipment for them to patrol.

Unfortunately, regulations aren't followed because the penalty is hardly firm enough to respect for some people.

And I think one any sex bow and one any sex gun tag is just fine.
 
If you could buy 2 gun tags it would just lead to a lot more bucks being shot. It is just like if you could buy 2 anysex bow tags. That would lead to a ton more bucks being shot as well during the rut.

One tag good for any season would be cool from a pure selfish want to hunt big deer all the time perspective. I would still want a cap on early muzz though because that could get ugly if 100,000 people all the sudden hunt that. I would imagine it would be a lot more dangerous with all the foliage up in the trees and woods.
 
Although it would be nice to have more time in the stand I think the woods would be too crowded and the added pressure would just hurt the deer herd.
 
Are you asking if it should just be 2 any sex tags for any seasons, or are you asking for a potential of 3 including bow? I think 1 Any sex for non land owners would be a great idea... but would prefer it to not change... I also think that a tenant should only be allowed antlerless tags (I am a tenant) I do know of people that are screwing the system big time with landowner tags..

I would like to see that you could only hunt one gun season. You can still get doe tags, but only for the season you have a paid tag for.

Lots of people around here hunt both gun seasons plus late muzzy!

Same around here, seems greedy to me personally. Cross tagging should be abolished at least with NR. As for closing the season for 2 yrs I think the population here is about right. Less than 5-7 yrs ago but then it was to high. But hunting sure was fun! Every county is different though.
 
Right. Abolishing party hunting from the 4 or 5 thousand NR gun hunters will definitely make the difference when the 150 thousand plus resident cross taggers continue the practice???? Don't see the logic here.
