oh yea guys it is going be a great next couple weeks... get off today an get everything ready for this wknd an all next week off an the weather is looking great except for tomorrows wind problem

Was out this morning but quit early. Wind was a bi^th and nothing moving, at least nothing past my stand. Stand was rocking enough to almost give me seasickness.

I know it's time, but I really think the wind keeps activity down a little bit. Hope the wind stands down a little as I got this weekend and Monday and Tuesday to get it done.

Was gonna get out this morning but some work came up that needed to be done. Now I'm planning on sneaking out early this afternoon and gettin in the stand.

The report I got this morning was that things were slow. Started picking up around 10:00 a.m. when the snow quit.

I'm going back out towards evening also. I have one stand that is somewhat protected from this NW wind, but it is not one of my favorite stands. Not much activity. Not a funnel or a pinch point, just a small stand of timber that they travel through once and awhile. I have killed deer there, but it's more a matter of luck than anything. Saving my good stands for when this wind goes down.

I was able to get out couple hours this am. Saw 2 different 2.5 130" bucks trolling.. The does were barely moving, did not want to get the attention of bucks. Saw a nice shooter cross the road right in front of me, he was using a finger of woods to get to a larger block of timber.. I would definitely say they are on their feet! No chasing yet though.

I was excited for this front to come through too... until it came through last night with straight line winds clocked at over 100mph, lots of snow and very little visability... Our interstate has been closed for 30 hrs or so and have seen pictures of snow drifts higher than gutters on houses.

Although, now it is calming a bit and I think this weekend will be good for me...

I sat this morning from 6:30-11:15. Set the alarm for 6 instead of 5 so I got out late. Kicked 2 deer up on the way in. Sat through alot of crappy weather. Some wind a little rain and snow off and on. Only thing I saw was squirels until 10:50am. A decent buck came trough about 60 yards. Nothing huge but nice to see him up and moving that time of day. Didn't want anything to do with a grunt call or doe bleat. Maybe he just got evicted from some where else.

I got out in the woods about noon til dark and seen 7 different bucks. And on the way home from work this morning seen big bucks out in the fields with does.

I actually saw close to 20 deer on their feet when I was walking in this morning feeding in a corn field. I only hunted for 2 hours and actually saw 5 bucks. One buck was chasing a doe about 150 yards away. I saw one rubbing on a tree at 120 yrds so a rattled and he headed my way but was down wind so I knew it wouldn't last. At 50 yrds he put his nose in the air and turned the other way. He would of went about 140 I'm guessing. So all in all I was impressed at the amount of movement I did see with all the wind. I'm hunting south central Iowa and am convinced that we are still days away of some heavy action. I am one that watches the moon and knew that the second week would be the week to take off work.
