I can't believe this Steel Creek Outfitters is still in business. I see they have been bragging about Mossy Oak filming thier hunts on a few web sites. I wonder if Mossy Oak is aware of this incident. Surely Mossy Oak doesn't support this type of behavior.

I fully agree that this is bull. I think the IDNR should have a bulletin board of fines/finees handed out annually. Just in list form as names/fines.I don't understand how an outfitter can stay in business withthings like this happening. It would be a great source of info for landowners allowing property access as well.

Supertec do you have a valid email address for them? After checking their website it gives no email address. It does give a phone and fax. I may have to fax them a response. I encourage the rest of you to do the same!

i hunted at steel creek early muzzle season and was filmed by mossy oak and i can tell you, everything is on the up and up. i;m sure i will get bashed for this but people are quick to judge before thinking about it. here's my question, why would an outfitter tell someone to do something illegal that could make him lose his source of income and hunting rights.doesn't make sense. now if you were the one to get caught, sure your going to try to blame someone else, just like when you were a kid. he must be on good terms with the DNR. the CO still stops in for coffee and shoots the bull. i don't think all the facts are straight in the report that everyone is looking at. let the bashing begin

I'm not going to bash you, I don't know you and you weren't convicted of any wrong doing! Did these two guys pay to hunt with the above said outfitter? Wouldn't he know by either checking to see their tags or going on line to see if they drew tags for that zone? Why was he convicted if he did no wrong? If it was my name they were tarnishing I would fight till the very end before I would accept that fine. The local CO must have had a pretty good case if they convicted him. Oh and why do people do that? For monetary gain that's why.

Here is another question for you. They brought the deer back to Steel Creek and photoed them. They had to have had some sort of tag on them to move them. If and when the outfitter found out about this why didn't he turn the hunters in? That surely would have cleared his name. Bottom line is it's all about money. Not sure you will ever be able to explain it to those of us that follow the rules!

The only thing poachers regret is getting caught. They take these animals for either monetary gain (selling the rack) or for personal satisfaction (i.e. bragging)--"Look at the big deer I got."

If it's recognition they want or seeing their name in print---now they've got their wish---just not with the headline they imagined.

I have heard of abuse of doe tags by non-residents,in one case it was a CO that mentioned it.Maybe we should only allow residents to purchase doe tags?????

For those who had mentioned Steel Creek's connection to Iowa Deer and were concerned..... FYI, earlier today Iowa Deer cut all business ties with Steel Creek. Ernie is no longer a member of the site, nor a sponsor. It was not a vote of guilt, simply a decision based on guilt by association.

Is he still a member over here?

Matthew - no idea to be honest with you. if so he has not posted much as far as i know and never sponsored this site.

Muddy, yeah I was just currious. I know he's never been a sponsor over here. I just checked and he's a member over here but it looks like he hasn't posted in a while. I'm not saying he shouldn't be allowed to be a member, that's not my decision anyway. I was just wondering.

Let me just start off by saying that Iowa Deer doesn't condone poaching now or ever. Mathew I appreciate your defense and with respect I don't think we need it.

If your guilty merely by a distant association then we probably need to as administraters scour our rank and file. The list of names guilty by association may be quite a bit longer than just the names of the people listed in the articles.

Don't misunderstand me, I have no problem with making the names public, let's just make the right connections.

Appreciate the time to make things a little clearer from my end.

Thanks,
