Too much land to hunt???

Good post - land access is relatively easy compared to other states. I think our available access isn't a hugh issue which proves the effectiveness of limiting NR tags and not providing preference to NR landowners.

If you enjoy having lots of land access and would like to see it continue in this great state make sure to join the IBA and other great organizations that continue to fight to make this happen for us.

It would be interesting to compare land access for hunters in Illinios (which have no NR limitations) compared to Iowa.

Good huning

Unlimited NR tags and preference for NR landowner tags and watch your kids hunting opportunities go right down the toilet.

we're comparing apples to oranges here. I'm talking about gaining permission to hunt in Michigan and you are talking about Iowa/Mizzu. I have thrown the kitchen sink at landowners (offered to work off hunting priveleges, bow hunt only, only on certain days, xmas gifts/cards, share or give the venison to them......) and NADA. You can't get more respectful than the way I approach and treat landowners.

I think it boils down to residents of Iowa feeling like the thing they love to do the most may eventually be taken away from them if NR's get their way. Even if they budge a little and give out a few more tags, you just open the door and it's all downhill from there. I can't blame them. I don't think it matters if you have 10 acres to hunt or 2,000+ like HCH does. You don't want the good times to end and NR's represent the means to an end. Having said that......anyone know someone in zone 5 that would be willing to let a couple NR's hunt this year??? hahahahaha

This is kinda like saying "the bucks I'm shooting are just getting toooo big! Last year it was a 250 incher, now I'm seeing this 300 incher close to my stand. Does anyone else have this problem?"

I'll have to say HCH, you're the first person I've ever heard this angle from.

Access isn't near what it was 20 years ago in my area and I don't live in an area considered a true hotspot either.

I have to admit that by servicing peoples' homes, it puts me in contact with landowners, they become my friend, learn my passion for bowhunting, and then comes the invite. They especially like the fact that my wife and boy hunt with me.

Business must be slow if you have time to be blowin this much smoke!

I'll admit that we may not see eye to eye on most things, but that's funny!

And for being so funny you get this

I lived in Northern Illinois for 5 years before moving to Iowa.... I never found a private piece of ground to hunt there.... was stuck on public land with all the nimrods coming out from Chicago. Talk about seeing some crazy stuff...

I lived in Iowa less than 6 months and managed to find some great private land access.... so from my experience. There is NO comparison to quality land access in Iowa compared to Illinois.....

Let's keep it that way !!! Join the IBA

I am not anti- NR hunters.... just anti- open access.

That is funny I have to admit too. But since you are handing out pics of yourself in diapers to other men, I feel that this applies:

I have so many other pictures I would love to post right now, but I don't want to upset too many people, so I'll just walk away from this one and give you the upper hand. Well played!

Trust, it's killing me not to keep playing, but I like this site too much to risk getting the boot.
