Well after a pretty exciting first three days of first season I ended up smoking a bird this morning. I had multiple opprotunities throughout the season that just seemed to pass me by (including one bird that took a 10ga. blast at 20yds. and ended up flying away when I went to retrieve him Tuesday evening, don't ask me how that happened). Anyhow, this morning I hunted an area that had not been hunted at all this year but I had heard birds roosted in the same spot on numerous occassions. Got to the spot I wanted and setup just as the first bird sounded off. He continued his morning screams until about 6:05 then flew down and was fairly quiet with a gobble here and there. It took him awhile but he finally committed and came into the setup and this time there was no flying away
. Anyways, he went 22.5lbs, 9 3/8" beard, and 7/8" spurs.
