TONITE I HAD THE SHOT OF A LIFETIME ON A HUGE BUCK, (DREAM BUCK), IT WAS RIGHT BEFORE DARK SO I LET HIM SIT AWHILE AND CHECKED FOR BLOOD, I FELT I HAD A GOOD SHOT BUT THERE WASNT MUCH BLOOD, JUST A SPOT ABOUT EVERY 3-5FT. I LEFT HIM OVERNIGHT TO FIND IN THE MORNING. DOES A SMALL BLOOD TRAIL MEAN A BAD SHOT, DO YOU THINK MY CHANCES ARE GOOD FOR FINDING HIM, ITS GONNA BE A LONG NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you get a pass-through? If not, then the blood will likely fill up the chest cavity before it starts to bleed out. "Too little" blood isn't always bad. Keep your hopes up!

NO IT WASNT A PASS THROUGH, I WATCHED THE ARROW STICKIN OUT OF HIM AS HE RAN OFF....IVE BEEN HUNTING A LONG TIME BUT HAVE NEVER SHOT ANYTHING LIKE HIM BEFORE, THE FEAR OF NOT FINDING HIM IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!

A few impiortant questions. Where was the arrow in him, how much arrow was in him, what angle was he when you shot, and what did it sound like when it hit?

If you hit him in the vitals you should find him this morning, if you don't find him I'd assume you probably hit the shoulder blade or somewhere high in the back which are not fatal shots that usually have poor arrow penetration because of large bones.

Not alot of blood is common with shoulder hits and high in the back hit as well as gut shot deer, but I assume you would have gotten a pass through if it was gut shot.

I hope you werent shooting mechanicals. Last thursday, I stuck my buck who gave me a perfect quartering away shot with spitfires and i made an absolutely perfect shot, and it hit a rib and kicked straight forward. going through only one lung and sticking in his chest. I cam back to track him with the cart. I thought maybe he made it fifty yards. TRY 350!!!! I was thoroughly disappointed. my best friend shot a buck straight broadside with his spitfires and made a great shot, his arrow bounced off a rib and went thhrough the guts. IT STILL cut both lungs and the deer made it 65 yards. But still, I am giong back to muzzys. they never fail.

good luck on your tracking I hope you find him. When I was out this week I saw a brute of a buck with an arrow in its hind quarter. Saw him two nights in arow didn't seem to bother him at all. Still trailing does.

I "WAS" USING SPITFIRES, BUT NEVER AGAIN, BACK TO THE FIXED FOR ME, I TRACKED BLOOD FOR OVER 6 HOURS AND STILL HAVENT FOUND HIM, I FIGURED IF HE IS GOING THAT FAR HE IS JUST WOUNDED. REALLY SUCKS! NOT THAT I DIDNT GET THE DEER BUT THAT I WOUNDED HIM WITH NO HARVEST. HOPEFULLY SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE I CAN SEE HIM AGAIN.
